Oscars 2025: Host Conan O’Brien Greets Indian Viewers in Hindi
In a delightful surprise for Indian viewers, Conan O’Brien, hosting the Academy Awards for the first time, attempted to greet audiences in Hindi during the Oscars 2025 broadcast. While announcing that the global viewership had reached nearly a billion, he made the special gesture.
“Greetings to the people of India, it’s morning there, so I hope you’re having breakfast with the Oscars,” Conan said, making an effort to speak Hindi.
While many Indian fans appreciated the attempt, some found his pronunciation difficult to understand.
One viewer humorously commented on X (formerly Twitter):
“Conan O’Brien butchered Hindi so badly that I, a native Indian, had to read the subtitles.”
Another joked,
“Genuinely, who could tell Conan was speaking Hindi? I thought it was something else entirely.”
A Night of Glamour and Entertainment
Despite the mixed reactions to his Hindi, Conan ensured a night full of entertainment with his signature wit and humor. The 97th Academy Awards, organized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), took place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
The event was broadcast live in India on Star Movies and Star Movies Select in the early hours of Monday, March 3, 2025. It was also available for streaming on JioHotstar.
